WhoIsArnoPeeters
An autodidactic composer and sound artist.
Having worked his way from early mono cassette-compositions to full-fletched surround soundscapes, he connected with all kinds of scenes along the way. In the early 80's, Arno (1969) started his first musical experiments with modified tapedecks, hacked electronic toys and hifi-equipment. His work was picked up by a cassette-label that released a trilogy of his early work and some tracks got played on 'Audio Art' a radioshow on Dutch National Radio 4. Around 1986 he was able to professionalize his technical skills and study electronic composition at the then legendary Centre for Electronic Music (CEM-Studio).

For the record...
His first act on record was Voltage Control, a duo with co-student Tibor Fülöp. Although meant to be an Electronic Body Music project, they were strongly influenced by the first acid-house that reached the European mainland. Their first EP Force d'inquisition, released in 1990 on Antler-Subway Records therefore is sometimes referred to as 'the first acid record' in The Netherlands. This debut gained international attention when it was picked up by NY DJ Frankie Bones and became a modest hit, appearing on several compilation CDs. Also on stage they gained attention, being one of the very first (Dutch) acts to use samplers and computer-sequencing live, setting up an 'isle of electronics' in the middle of the dancefloor and not on stage.

An Undefined Public
Their second EP Antithesis Song was released in 1991, but did not get the same kind of attention. Unable to cope with the demands from the label due to success of the New Beat compilations (making Antler a temporary ‘major’ label) Arno finished a final full length album To an Undefined Public, this time without notable involvement from Tibor Fülöp and abandoned the Voltage Control project in 1992.

Meanwhile Peeters became more and more influenced by ‘streetmusic’ (electro, hip hop, dub and acid/house) and tried to invent new styles and methods that finally drove him into the arms of techno and a warm relationship with Djax-Up-Beats. Together with Sander Friedeman, he formed Random XS and between 1992 and 1994 they released 3 EP's and toured Europe, after which Arno place was taken over by Frank de Groodt. With the latter, Arno also formed Urban Electro, releasing 2 EP's. Solo he operated as Spasms on 3 EP's and (more obscurely) The Implant on the local U-Trax label. A period of (re)mixing and producing followed: hiphop-acts for Djax (Opex, Vaardigheid, Da Definite No Remorse), a succesful remix of the classic 'Circus Bells' by Robert Armani.  Sideprojects like African Nightflight and coproductions with Rude66 on Bunker and SSR.

Fuzzy Logic and beyond
Meanwhile, Arno got more and more disappointed by the conventions of techno. Together with his last techno-tracks, he released the experimental CD Fuzzy Logic on Djax in 1995. This album gained him more attention from the leftfield elektronica-scene and did little to nothing in the increasingly commercial dancescene.
Dissapointed he turned away to apply himself to more experimental music. In 1996 he created AeroSon, a 40” soundcollage as the Dutch admission to the International Rostrum for Electro-Acoustic Music (IREM). It won him the first prize in the category ‘Composers Under 30'. This work got released on the German Mille Plateaux-label. In 1997 and 1998 two more tracks appeared on the Modulation and Transformation-series.

Icon After the records...
Since then, his focus has shifted from releasing to working more project-based (remixes, compilations) and interactive (installations, video, sounddesign). Nowadays he is a radio producer and editor with Dutch National Radio (Radio 6 and Radio 1 resp.). With his own one-man company and studio Tape TV Productions, located in Utrecht, he assembles, edits and mixes for radio, film and games on a regular basis and specializes in surround sound and audio within interactive applications. Since 2004 he works intensively with installation artist (and now partner for life) Iris Honderdos. Together they worked on community based installations and performances, most recently in Kiev (Ukraine 2004/2005), in Hanoi and HaLong (Vietnam 2006 - 2009) and Finland (2008).
